Native American beliefs and our planet

Native American tribes were around before modern civilization which we can call the original science of the earth. “Native people do not necessarily believe that only humans can talk” (pg.236) Native Americans lived off of what the earth provided for them on daily basis. They also believed many non-living things had spirits and they were connected to such spirits which made it easier for them to connect with the world around them. History documents and illuminates the physical past while modern creation establishes an origin of life and life’s values. In terms of economics, the Native peoples tend to have communal property, subsistence production, barter systems, high-impact technology, and competitive production. In terms of political relations, Native people have consensual processes, direct “participatory” democracy, and laws embedded in oral traditions. Regarding differences in world view, the Native peoples derive an understanding of the world from the natural order’s rhythms and cycles of life, and include animals and plants as well as other natural features in their conceptions of spirituality.
