How deforestation effects the world

When many of us see trees I would guess the average person would know paper comes from trees. Little do we know this little sheet of paper is the least of our worries. “By burning trees, coal, and oil we dump six billion tons of carbon into the atmosphere.” Without trees our air would more than likely be toxic to us and because the rainforests cover majority of the earth they play a major factor in producing clean oxygen. Trees also give the ground nutrients therefore it can grow and continue to produce oxygen. “A rainforests tree will draw 3 million gallons of water through its roots and release it into the air as water vapor.” Without tress producing tons of water vapor/moisture it is unable to produce clouds and rain. Many people also fail to realize the cutting of trees can be link to our food chains. “72 acres of rainforest are destroyed every minute.” The acres of trees are cut by impoverished people and they use land to “grow” beef to export to the United States. 72 acres a minute is equivalent to 38 million acres a year and at this rate the world rainforest will be wiped out in our children’s lifetime. Two million pounds of beef is imported from third world countries while the average citizen in those countries eat less meat than a house cat. The statement suggest that deforestation not only helps but make more of an impact on our oxygen as well as peoples day to day lives.
