The Last Hours of Ancient Sunlight

The tone of the book seems to be informative. When you look at the table of contents you can see the book is cut into three parts; we’re running out of ancient sunlight, younger and older cultures, and what we can do about it. Just the titles of the sections of the book make me feel like I should get ready to obtain information being told to me. As I skimmed the book I also got a feeling of confidence from the author. The author seems as if he knows what he is talking about.
When I opened the book and began to read. I was hit with a lot of information I did not know about the earth. I was shocked to know “eighty percent of grasslands and forty percent of the planets land surface suffers from soil degeneration”. I love the earth and the environment we live in. it shocked me to know that information because I do have a passion for the environment and to know the media only covers the effects of Global Warming makes me feel as if the government knows more about the earth than they perceive. When it came to the matters of the earth and the environment I only knew what the media showed to me. As a kid I did watch a lot of animal planet and discovery channel but the information they were telling me was more directed toward the extinction of our animals and how the different environments affect the habitat that live there. The information in the book is more directed at humans and the effects humans have on the earth. I have never learned about our oil usage and how it affects our everyday life, as far as I knew oil was only put into cars engine.
